The Lunt Roman Fort near Coventry

The Lunt Roman Fort near Coventry was established shortly after the Boudican Rebellion in 60 A.D.
The present-day Lunt Roman Fort is a result of the excavations and reconstructions efforts begun in the late 1960's and which continued through the 1970's.

Though the fort had faded into insignificance rather quickly, it still sported something unique.
The fort utilized a gyrus to train and keep the Roman cavalry sharp. The opening to the corral-like structure can be seen at the left. It facilitated the training of horsemanship to the garrison stationed there.
