St. Gelvin

As all of Armorica emerged from a mild winter,
the first months of the new Christian year had promised
seasons of prosperity to all. With much personal surplus
and very little winter road damage throughout the realm,
many clans from the western lands between Paimpont
and Brest attended the annual celebration. Never had so
many gathered at the war–honored duc’s secluded estate.
Even though the young prince of Armorica Alayn
de Rennes and his wife Lady Madaleanna did not attend,
folks as far away as the frontier lands of Fougères came
to this Keltic–Christian celebration.
At a well–orchestrated moment during the equinox
Duc Jean–Claude stood between Sabrina and Elroy
de St. Gelvin, the only son of a wartime comrade who
had passed away the year before this one. Suddenly,
raising up Sabrina’s hand, the Duc falsely declared
Sabrina’s engagement to Sir Elroy as the old duc lifted
up de St. Gelvin’s hand.
Sabrina, furious, abruptly halted the otherwise
festive occasion in her own fiery fashion. But to
Darian, the likely reality of losing her to another
emotionally crippled him. From that day forth a
heart–wrenching fear hounded Darian’s thoughts
like a yapping lap dog.
